Poetry Reading: Nichael Cramer and Rolf Parker-Houghton

After having met at open readings sponsored by Write Action in Brattleboro, Vermont, Nichael Cramer and Rolf Parker-Houghton quickly became mutual admirers of each other’s poetry. They will present a joint reading at the Putney Public Library at 6:30 on the evening of Wednesday, August 2, 2023.

After work and study in Physics, Computer Science, and Music, Nichael Cramer now lives, writes, woodworks, and reads, in Guilford, Vermont (with his wife Crystal Washburn). His poems have appeared in the journals “Frogpond”, “bottlerockets”, “Modern Haiku”, “tinywords”. “New England Letters”, “Seven Days”, and elsewhere; as well as the anthologies “string theory, The Red Moon Anthology of English Language Haiku”, “Window Seats”, “Bird Whistle”. “Birchsong”; and others.

Rolf Parker-Houghton is a freelance writer of history, whose articles have been published in The Commons, The Brattleboro Reformer and The Deerfield Valley News. He also writes a column on math and science education for Parents Express. His poems have been published in The Road Not Taken: The Journal of Formal Poetry, and Vita Poetica. In 2023 he was shortlisted for the O’ Bheal Five Words International Poetry Contest. He and his wife, the artist Cynthia Parker-Houghton, live in Brattleboro, Vermont, USA, with their son, Morgen. They also create fake archeological digs and other free events which they create under the name of “The University of Brattleboro”. The motto of the university is, “Desperationem pugnamus cum humore et in communi cum aliis.”, which translates to “We fight despair with humor and in community with others”.

Putney Public Library is located at 55 Main St in Putney, VT. This event is free and open to the public.
