Meet and Greet with a Wildlife Rehabilitator, His Biographer, and His Owl: Fred Homer, Ryland White, and Stella the Owl at Putney Library Wednesday, November 12th at 6:30pm

November 12 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Fred Homer, Ryland White, and Stella the Owl will be our guests for an informal gathering at Putney Public Library on Wednesday, November 12th at 6:30pm.

Come meet Fred and a Barred Owl named ‘Stella’ up close and personal …. all ages welcome!

Fred, along with Stella the Barred Owl, will share and take questions about what the life of a bird rehabilitator is really like.

Ryland will introduce her recently published book ‘2-Grams of Life – The Life and Adventures of Fred Homer. Both Ry and Fred will share and take questions about what the 7-year process was like for them. And Stella might have something to say about it too.

Fred Homer has been a licensed bird rehabilitator for over 40 years. He has interacted with a wide range of bird species from hummingbirds to bald eagles. Both the birds and the folks delivering them have provided many interesting and unique interactions. Through an injured barred owl, Fred met Ryland White and a rich friendship developed, inspiring her to write a book.

Ryland White settled in Vermont after spending 50 years as an intercultural and social justice practitioner and educator both domestically and internationally. She has spent the last 7 years focusing on learning from Fred while writing a book about his many adventures.
