SUMMARY:Jessie Haas Presents on Her Historical Novel\, Dearest Blood
DESCRIPTION:Jessie Haas Presents on Her Historical Novel\, Dearest Blood\nTuesday\, June 9th at 6:30 pm at Putney Library\nJoin local author Jessie Haas as she presents on the process of researching and writing her latest novel\, Dearest Blood: A Romance of the Revolution at Putney Public Library on Tuesday\, June 9th at 6:30pm.\nDearest Blood is a biographical novel inspired by the true story of Fanny Montresor\, a young woman with a secret identity whose love and loyalties crossed both sides of the American Revolution. Set in Westminster (now Vermont) in 1775\, the first section takes Fanny through the turmoil that led to the Westminster Massacre. The novel resumes 1783 when Fanny\, now a dashing young widow\, returns to Westminster hoping to recover her Tory stepfather’s confiscated land. Also on the hunt for that land is Vermont hero Ethan Allen.\nJessie Haas grew up in Westminster\, VT\, on a farm owned in 1775 by a militia-man who fought at Bunker Hill. Her writing career has been dominated by a love of horses and history. She sold her first book\, Keeping Barney\, a month before graduating from Wellesley College. Forty-one books later\, she has award-winning picture books\, poetry\, novels\, and nonfiction to her credit\, including four books about Westminster. She is the president of the Westminster Historical Society\, and an expert on the Westminster Massacre. She owns two Morgan mares\, and continues to farm\, garden\, and ride on the home place.\nPutney Public Library is located at 55 Main St. Putney\, VT. This event is free and open to the public.

SUMMARY:Peter Gould Presents New Novel\, Part for the Hole: Book Launch and Reading
DESCRIPTION:Peter Gould Presents New Novel\, Part for the Hole: \nBook Launch and Reading at Putney Library \nThursday\, June 25th at 6:30pm \nJoin local author and performer Peter Gould for a reading and book launch of his new novel on Thursday\, June 25th at 6:30pm. At a time of politicization of arts support\, Peter Gould’s new novel\, Part for the Hole\, puts the reader into the mind and heart of a thoughtful high school teacher\, who decides to rescue the National Endowment for the Arts by himself—with the help of his lover and his AP English students. They realize it’s time to take a stand\, to not let working artists disappear into a system that demands their soul in return for success. Be advised: no artists\, teachers\, or students were harmed in the writing or reading of this story: it’s fiction! All theater\, all metaphor! \n“Sentence by nimble sentence\, Gould gallivants through his story\, and I follow \nhis jazzy solo phrases\, hoping that this book never ends.” \n Peter Coyote\, old hipster\, author\, actor\, Zen Buddhist priest. \nPeter Gould has toured the world as a physical comedy performer. He founded (in 1998) and still directs the “Get Thee to the Funnery” youth Shakespeare camp in the Northeast Kingdom. For his creative work with theater and writing students around Vermont\, Peter earned the Arts Council’s 2016 Ellen McCulloch-Lovell Arts Educator of the Year award. \nCopies of Peter’s book will be for sale at the event. \nPutney Public Library is located at 55 Main St. Putney\, VT. This event is free and open to the public.
