Dear Putney Library Patrons,

Putney Public Library to Suspend In-Person Visits, Pickup Borrowing and Virtual Programs Continue

In an effort to keep our staff and community healthy, the Putney Public Library will be suspending in-person visits to the Library for the two weeks following Thanksgiving.

Please note that no-contact pickup borrowing WILL continue and that anyone who would like to reserve an item or access their online account to place holds may contact Emily for their login information: Emily@putneylibrary.org or 387-4407

The Library Board will reevaluate this decision during the week of December 7th. To stay up to date on the library’s services, announcements, and virtual programs, please sign up for our email newsletter at our website: putneylibrary.org

The following services remain in place. Please feel free to email the above address with any questions.

*Pickup Borrowing:

You don’t need to come into the library to get books! Pickup outside the library’s front doors is available three days a week, including when the building is open.

Request one of three ways:
-Log into your library account and place holds on your desired items. 
-Email Emily a list of books you’d like (or an author or topic you’d like books about.)
-Call the library and leave a message with what you’d like. 802-387-4407.

Emily will be in touch to arrange a pickup time with you. Pickup days are Mondays and Fridays, from 10am-4:30pm and Wednesdays from 10am-6pm. Please wait to hear from us before coming to pick up your items. 

*Online resources:*  If you already have an account with Listen Up Vermont! or RBDigital, now is a great time to download some audiobooks or ebooks.   If you don’t already have an account, take a look here:
You can request your library card number (needed to log on) from Emily by emailing her: emily@putneylibrary.org (mailto:emily@putneylibrary.org) or 387-4407.  Please be patient, she may be getting more requests than usual!  You can also get ebooks free at https://putneylibrary.us17.list-manage.com/track/click?u=b7b41d8cd7560a493c0bd12f6&id=9a340d6b6d&e=3b247e510a.

Due Dates and Fines* The Putney Library doesn’t charge fines! While you may still receive automatic emails about your items, please know that due dates are flexible while we’re closed.  Please feel free to renew online, by email/phone or return in the book drop if you are healthy and able to do so. You may also swap materials you are done with if you are doing a pickup. Please check that all DVDs/CDs are present before returning them.

*Book returns:* We encourage people to return books through the book return in front of the library if you are healthy and able.  We are quarantining all books that are returned before circulating them again. 

*Wifi* Wifi will stay on and patrons can it from outside the building. Many people use it from parked cars or the benches and tables around the library.

*Programs* While all in-person programs are cancelled until further notice, we’ve established many of our programs to run through Zoom. Please sign up for our newsletter for the full schedule and all Zoom links.

*Online Resources* Don’t forget our many online resources, including Mango Language Learning Software (great for kids home from school too!), Consumer Reports Online, Learning Express and Universal Class. All of these can be found under the Search and Learn option at putneylibrary.org.

*Communication*  The library will maintain communication through our newsletter, website, iPutney, our facebook page, and postings at the library. We will update our phone message with vital information.
