SUMMARY:The Basics of Estate Planning with Edward A. Dimayuga
DESCRIPTION:What happens to your property when you die — and who decides? In this presentation\, Vermont estate planning attorney Edward A. Dimayuga walks through the basics of wills\, trusts\, and estate planning in plain English. Topics include how a will works and what happens if you die without one\, the difference between a will and a trust and when a trust makes sense\, how to make sure your assets actually reach the people you intend\, and common mistakes that can derail even a well-intentioned plan. Whether you are just starting to think about estate planning or have documents you haven’t looked at in years\, this presentation will give you a practical framework for the decisions ahead. \nEd has centered his practice around helping people plan for themselves and their loved ones. In times of need\, he assists families in carrying out these plans with care and compassion. His practice is exclusively in the preparation of Wills and trusts\, powers of attorney and Advance Directives\, and assisting clients with probate and trust administration\, guardianships\, and long-term care Medicaid planning. \nEd previously focused his practice in the areas of estate planning and elder law in Florida and brings extensive experience. Before establishing his private practice he worked for the Legal Aid Society of the Orange County Bar Association in Orlando\, Florida\, where he assisted the indigent and disabled\, children in foster care\, and military veterans in need. \nHe is an active member of the Vermont and Florida bars and has also practiced in Kansas and Missouri. He completed his undergraduate studies at Boston College and earned his law degree from Tulane Law School in 2003. \nEd and his wife\, Jennifer\, recently relocated to southern Vermont to raise their four children. They are looking forward to enjoying all of Vermont’s seasons and can’t wait to learn to ski and snowboard!

SUMMARY:Bringing Up Beaver with John Aberth
DESCRIPTION:John Aberth\, a licensed volunteer wildlife rehabilitator\, will present on his book\, Bringing Up Beaver\, about his raising and release of an orphaned beaver kit. On May 10\, 2020\, a beaver kit—BK—was found in St. Albans\, Vermont and handed over to John Aberth\, a rehabilitator who specializes in beaver. Over the next two years\, John raised BK and prepared him for release back into the wild. During that time\, John and BK developed a special and unique bond\, which John documented in a daily diary. That diary became the basis for Bringing Up Beaver\, a lively and engaging account of one human’s relationship with a wild animal. This presentation will use both video and photos to augment and flesh out BK’s story as told in Bringing Up Beaver.
