SUMMARY:Walking the Teacher's Path with Mindfulness: A Reading and Introduction to Mindfulness with Richard Brady
DESCRIPTION:WEDNESDAY\, FEB 1 at 6:30PM. \nJoin Putney resident and longtime math teacher and mindfulness practitioner\, Richard Brady\, for a reading and mindfulness introduction on WEDNESDAY\, FEB 1 at 6:30PM at Putney Public Library. Richard’s 2021 book\, Walking the Teacher’s Path with Mindfulness: Stories for Reflection and Action\, offers compelling anecdotes from his life as a teacher and mindfulness practitioner to help readers encounter life with mindfulness and find new vigor in their work. Richard shares his experience as a student and as a teacher in a variety of areas\, including motivation\, agency and freedom\, creativity\, and nurturing presence and community. He follows each story with reflections and contemplations that invite readers to connect with their own experience and ultimately with action. The book is written for educators and anyone else interested in exploring the process of transformation. \nThis event will include readings and experiential components that focus on mindfulness. \nRichard Brady founded the Mindfulness in Education Network\, an organization that facilitates connection among educators worldwide. In 2001\, Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh honored Richard for his work cultivating mindfulness in young people. He retired in 2007 after thirty-seven years teaching high school mathematics in Washington\, DC. Since moving to Putney in 2008\, Richard engages himself with leading mindfulness retreats for educators\, writing\, coordinating Thich Nhat Hanh’s education program in the United States\, and working with schools through his consulting firm Minding Our Lives.
